Career Day
On Thursday, November 18, 2010, students in grades K-4 will participate in Career Day. Grades 2-4 will participate in Career Day in the morning while Grades K-1 will participate in the afternoon. Career Day is an opportunity for students to learn more about various careers or hobbies that they might be interested in as they get older. Over 40 different speakers from the area will present about their career throughout the day. Students will get to see 3 of these speakers as scheduled according to their individual interests. Speakers will share about why they enjoy their job, what types of skills they need for the job, what they are responsible for in this job, and some of the parts of their job that they do NOT like as much. It's never too early to start thinking about what you want to be when you grow up, and this experience is a great opportunity for students to understand how their elementary learning experiences translate to careers when they become adults.
Screensaver Group
Elementary students in grades 3-4 created screensavers with anti-bully messages last year. We will be creating screen savers again this year. Previous screen savers will be posted soon in a Powerpoint presentation format. Check out the creativity of LC Elementary students when they are soon posted.

The presenter reviews the 4 types of child abuse and also talks about the many people in their family, neighborhood, and school that they can go to for help if they are in an unsafe situation. The purpose of this presentation is to help children learn how to recognize when they are in an unsafe situation and how to get help. This presentation takes place on February 2-3, 2011.
