Kindergarten  is working on a 3 million year old fossil.  Then we will be using a printmaking technique with Doilie.

1st Grade is creating a Spontaneous Shape Mulitmedia Personal Mural. It will be vibrant and have many different mediums.  Then we will be creating a Frozen Warp Weaving.

2nd Grade is creating a Koi fish creation learning about Japan.  Will use black glue and water color in a collage fashion. We will then move on the the Frozen Warp Weaving.  After break 2nd grade will be studying different cultures in the homerooms, art is going to help, please send your wrapping paper rolls from Christmas so we can make a rainstick project.

3rd Graders are excited about starting a Stella inspired clay piece. Our focus is on Relief Form and Clay Techniques along with Texture.

4th Graders are getting stuck in glue and creating a Collograph.  Collo comes from the Greek word "to glue."  They are learning about texture and will be then be exploring printmaking the with collographs.  Then we will work on a printmaking/collage project with snowflakes.

5th grade is diving in to Art Deco.  We are taking an artist by the name of Chris Marley and turing his bugs in to Deco Designs.  Art Deco started in Paris, France in the the '20's and '30's.  It appears everywhere, from jewelry, wallpaper, ironwork, architecture, etc.  It is highly stylized and abstracted in appearance.  After Christmas break we will be starting a really inspiring piece using clay and graffiti.  In the meantime, after art deco, we are going to loosen things up and start a Frozen Warp Weaving Sculpture.

6th grade is working a self portrait in mosaic fashion.  We will then loosen up and use Frozen Warp Weaving to create a sculpture.

We are using U Tube to learn about artists and techniques.

All projects have Rubrics, please ask your child for it.
