Welcome to Our Class!

Hello and welcome to our class site! I am very happy to be your child’s fourth grade teacher this year. I am committed to helping students achieve their intellectual and creative potentials within a positive and safe learning environment. I consider it a great privilege and responsibility to be your child's teacher and I hope to continue and improve communication between home and school through the use of this classroom site.

Thanks for stopping by!

Liberty Center Students Dance for a Cause

Students in grades k-12 and employees of the district are dancing to help tornado and fire victims as well as other needy families of the community. The project was put together by the Physical Education, Art, and Music Departments.

Classroom Technology

Access to technology is easier than ever; therefore, it is essential that educators provide technology-rich opportunities for their students.  In fourth grade, students will have chances to use technology applications, such as OpenOffice.org Calc, to create tables and charts. Not only will students be able to visually communicate their conclusions in science class, but they will also be exposed to basic spreadsheet application skills.

In our classroom, we have a Mimio, an interactive whiteboard program that allows students to engage with technology. This keeps students interested and gets them up and moving. With the touch of a digital whiteboard “marker”, students can magically move text and pictures, make selections, and navigate the internet as it is projected onto our dry-erase board!

We have four brand new student computers in our classroom available for daily use. Students use the computers to
   • conduct research
   • take online Accelerated Reader quizzes
   • play Math Facts in a Flash

This year, our class will have weekly access to lap top computers. The lap tops arrive at our classroom on a portable cart and, in an instant, students can plug into learning in the comfort of their own desks. The students log onto Study Island, a program designed to target specific skills at which students excel, or skills with which students may need extra help.

This site has been created with technology-enhanced learners and families in mind!  I have created this site not only to strengthen the communication between home and school, but to provide just one more way for students and families to gain greater access to learning applications and extended opportunities for learning.  I hope you find it helpful!  Suggestions and new ideas are always welcome!
